How to Vote in Jefferson County
The Jefferson County Clerk is the County Election Officer. The Election Officer is responsible for all aspects of elections in Jefferson County and her section of the County website will contain all of the latest and most accurate voter information.
REGISTRATION
If you have any doubt about your registration status it is critical that you make sure that you are properly registered. The easiest, quickest place to check your registration is KSVOTES.ORG. You can also update your registration at this site if you have moved your residence or changed your name since you last registered. If you do not have a valid Kansas Driver's License or an acceptable photo ID you will need to complete a paper application and mail or present it to the Jefferson County Clerk's office. Click HERE to see a PDF of the form to be printed, completed and mailed to the clerk's office. If you do not have access to a computer and/or printer you can pick up this form at the clerk's office.

Driver’s license or ID card issued by Kansas or another state
U.S. Passport
U.S. Military ID
ID card issued by a Native American tribe
Employee badge or ID issued by a government office
Student ID card from an accredited postsecondary education institution in Kansas

Public assistance ID card issued by a government office
WHERE TO VOTE
The location of the polling place where you will go to vote depends on your address. Soon we will add a list of the thirteen precincts in the county and the address of the polling place for each one. If you don't know which precinct you are in go HERE to enter your address and find the name
of your precinct.
YOUR BALLOT
You can see a sample ballot for an upcoming election by asking the Jefferson County Clerk's office. Sample Ballots should be ready to view about 20 days before an election. That will depend on how soon the clerk has the information. You can get a sample ballot by visiting, calling or emailing the clerk's office. They will mail a sample ballot to you. When the clerk has produced a sample ballot for public viewing it will be available to view at KSVotes.ORG.

THREE WAYS TO VOTE IN KANSAS
EARLY VOTING
Early voting will start 20 days before the election and end on the day before election day. Walk into the courthouse and find the voting booth in the Commissioner's Room just to the right after walking in the front door.

VOTE BY MAIL
Kansas law allows voters to vote early by mail. Voters need to submit an application to vote by mail. You can obtain the application for an advance ballot HERE. This application will need to be returned to the Clerk's office in person or by mail.
A ballot will be mailed to you about 20 days before the election. The completed ballot can be mailed to the Clerk's office or carried to the Clerk's office during business hours or placed in a drop box in front of the courthouse any time.
VOTE IN PERSON AT YOUR POLLING PLACE.
Your polling place is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. You should expect to wait in line if you vote during busy times such as 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. See WHERE TO VOTE above if you are unsure of the location of your polling place. Pole workers will show you what to do after you enter.
